Well,
Stripping paint is a messy deal! Holy cow. Not sure where these pups have been all their lives, but I see black, white and gray paint. And the Gray I see wasn't original.
I'm not going to strip the outsides of the cabs. The stock paint is there, so I'll just sand and repaint. After dealing with the various dings, dents, hacks and water swollen areas.
I won the auction for the EQ units. $25 total, and I know they would have been easy to build, but I like stock. And I actually like the sound of the caps Altec used. I'll measure them for value of course.
Woofs are all ready to go to GPA. I called them Friday, talked to Steve. What great guys. He said they are busy as heck, and it might be 2 weeks turn around....shoot, it will be 3 months turn around on my end of the rebuild!
The good news is this project is keeping me from spending money on the Nova! Well except for the nitrous controller......
I need a Voice of the Theatre decal for the car......

Very Good Ron. I was watching that auction and I figured it had to be you.
Cheaper than building and all original is great. Looks like your luck is improving.

The original paint isn't lead based....is it?

Good question.
"Light grey resilient epoxy enamel"
Residential paints were required to go low/no lead in '78, but many industrial uses weren't regulated as such, and an epoxy base would have probably been from an industrial source, at least back then. Probably safest to assume it's leaded.
